Beyond the Void is rooted in lived experience, but our mission also follows the science. Ibogaine remains investigational in the United States, and larger controlled trials are still needed. At the same time, serious academic and government-backed research is advancing.
Stanford researchers followed 30 U.S. Special Operations Forces veterans with histories of traumatic brain injury who had independently chosen magnesium-ibogaine treatment in Mexico. At one month, the observational study reported substantial improvements in disability, PTSD, depression and anxiety. Because the study was not randomized or placebo-controlled, the researchers emphasized that controlled clinical trials are still needed.

In March 2026, Texas legislative leaders said the state intended to continue moving the research program forward after initial proposals did not meet the law's requirements.

We had advantages you guys didn't. We could call in missile strikes. We had the best weapons, night vision, equipment, support, and nearly every tool or trick you could imagine.
But you guys had nothing like that.
You went out there anyway. You cleared the way. You made the mission possible without the resources we had.
As far as we're concerned, you guys are the badasses who made it happen with nothing. Hats off to you.
“Once I heard that, it made me feel so happy and proud—and alive again.”
We are building a bridge between veterans, trusted information, supportive community, charitable resources, and lawful therapeutic options.
Why Beyond the Void exists
Before Beyond the Void Foundation existed, I was fighting a battle I did not know how to win. I was nearly 400 pounds, drinking heavily every night, living with PTSD, and reaching a point where I genuinely did not know whether I wanted to keep living.
In September 2024, after feeling like I had exhausted my options, I traveled to Mexico and underwent ibogaine treatment in a medically supervised setting. What happened there became one of the most profound experiences of my life.
One week before I left for that journey, I quit drinking. My wife, Liz, made the decision to quit drinking alongside me—not because she had to, but in solidarity with me and in support of what I was trying to do. She stood beside me before I left, while I was away, and through everything that came afterward. I would not be where I am today without that woman and her never-ending support. This may be my story, but she is an inseparable part of it.
I experienced something deeply spiritual. My faith, which had been buried under years of pain, began to come alive again. I returned home with a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and a desire to be fully present for my family.
My experience with ibogaine was personal, and I do not present it as a guarantee of what anyone else will experience. But for me, it became a turning point. I came home without the alcohol cravings that had controlled my life for years, and I began rebuilding my health, my relationships, and my future.
Today, I am 2 years and 15 days alcohol-free. That milestone means more to me than I can put into words. It represents time I once was not sure I would ever have.
Beyond the Void Foundation was born from that second chance. Its purpose is to help veterans and their families find lawful care, trusted information, charitable resources, community, and renewed purpose when they feel like they have run out of options.
The darkest chapter does not have to be the final chapter. There can be something beyond the void.
